2005 Rally

Day One - October 4th, 2005
The inaugural Muscle Car 1000 was held October 4th to October 8th 2005.
Just seven teams started at the Hyatt Newporter in Newport Beach, CA.
As they took to the highways of southern California, onlookers couldn’t help but wave and cheer!
By the end of Day 1, Chris Hoskins 1965 Pontiac GTO convertible (s/n 237675P275512) was crowned
drag race champion. Cocktail’s where served on the oceanfront terrace at the famous Four Seasons
Biltmore in Santa Barbara, followed by a five course dinner in the Caballero room.

Day Two - October 5th, 2005
Day Two included a spectacular drive up Highway 1. Lunch was held at the Pelican Point Restaurant built into the cliffs above the Pacific Ocean. After lunch, we continued on to Monterey, and the Monterey Plaza Resort. That evening, cocktails and dinner were held inside the Monterey Bay Aquarium in front of the famed “million gallon” tank.

Day Three - October 6th, 2005
Day Three began with a leisurely drive up to Napa Valley and the Vintage Inn. A wine maker’s dinner was presented at Merryvale’s Historic Cask Room. Participants enjoyed a private winery tour followed by a multi-course meal and wine pairings.

Day Four - October 7th, 2005
Day Four started off with a spirited drive to the Blackhawk collection in Danville, CA. After a sumptuous luncheon, participants were treated to a private tour of the museum. A few hours later, everyone arrived at the famous “Pink Palace” … the historic Madonna Inn. After a fun night of dinner and dancing, everyone gathered in Drew and Josephine Alcazar’s room for a photo shoot in our fuzzy pink robes!

Day Five - October 8th, 2005
Day Five included a beautiful drive down the coast to the charming town of Solvang for lunch. After taking an hour to explore downtown, the teams jumped back in their cars for a memorable drive to the Peterson Automotive Museum in Los Angeles. The back roads through the hills of Santa Barbara County were spectacular! Upon our arrival, the participants were treated to a private tour, which included a look inside the secret vaults under the Petersen Museum. After the tour, the First Annual Muscle Car 1000 awards banquet was held. Chris Hoskins 1968 Shelby GT 500 KR convertible (s/n 03571) took “Best in Show” honors. As a final treat, Jim Wangers, the “godfather” of the GTO made a guest appearance and shared his perspective on the history of the Muscle Car.
