Mission
First, We Must Feed Them...
The Hunger Relief Organization (HeRO) is part of the global effort to eradicate hunger in the developing world. Roughly 852 million people are chronically or acutely malnourished, and 1.1 billion children and adults lack sufficient drinking water. Hunger is both a cause and an effect of poverty. It restricts education and the ability to generate income, decreases productivity, increases vulnerability to disease, weakens the fight against poverty, and holds back sustainable economic growth.
Hungry people are vulnerable to events and influences that they cannot control. These include natural disasters, armed conflicts, catastrophic illness, and political and economic instability. Strengthening physical and mental abilities by providing food security is essential to disrupting the cycle of poverty and building an effective safety net for a productive future.
