We Believe...
HeRO focuses on the simple but powerful concept of synergy to end the hunger crisis. The effect of our cooperative action is greater than the sum of the individual parts. We are part of an international network of individuals, businesses, and organizations that raise funds to deliver life-giving supplies from the U.S. to relief projects. This involves coordinating efforts to respond to requests for help, safely delivering and storing usable resources, and reaching the people we are determined to help. HeRO is committed to strengthening national and local capacity through:
- Community nutrition programs
- "Homegrown" school feeding programs
- Investments in farming, clean water
- Public awareness on hunger issues and strong advocacy organizations.
We can end hunger. Our humanitarian mission is to feed the hungry so they can help themselves. We are not alone in this belief. The U.N.’s Task Force on Hunger concludes that through cooperative action, we can cut in half the malnutrition-related 5.5-plus million deaths of children in the world by 2015.
We can get valuable food resources delivered for just a few pennies per meal. Our food supplies are distributed by trusted volunteers and local sister charities. The time to act is now. We make your valuable donation go further in the world's neediest communities. Since 1992, HeRO has slowly grown-one donation at a time-to help create a brighter future for the disadvantaged.
